An open letter to Norbert Mao
Hello
Hope this letter finds your settled somewhere with Mbidde, Mwesigwa Frank, Brig. Karamire , Sewungu, etc popping a champagne. I beseech you to pause your bottle down, take a second look around yourself and take note; you are the odd man out .
I wish to bring it to your attention that your kinsman Obote one day sat with just one of those to plot against Ugandans and the outcomes of that meeting to date haunts all Northerners.
Being the intellectual that you are supposed to be your Excellency, I’m sure you need no history professor to remind you of such
When you were elected DP president, peace loving Ugandans celebrated as they looked at it as a gesture of nationalizing the party and expectant of your intellectual leadership.
Personally as I was seated somewhere in Kyabazaala, I myopically looked at it as a big experiment whose results are to come over years. I saw it as a war between trusted intellectualism verses inherited traditional enmity you face against two strong unavoidable forces; DP the party and Buganda the tribe.
A peek into your background, your blood flows into DP’s major political enemy UPC and Undeniably, there is traditional hatred between northerners and Buganda.
As you told me the last time we met “that the Acholi’s were told they were to be made to carry BRICKS on their heads from Acholi land to Buganda to pay for Obote’s destruction of Lubiri fence” That fear has never died neither has baganda’s hatred for Obote for destroying Lubiri. The urge for revenge runs in you yourself
Upon that background, I have always watched your leadership awaiting a verdict. Today one week after a one on one interaction with you, I have got the answers.
You have committed three sacrilegious crimes against DP the party’s ideology, the opposition and northern Uganda in general. These sins may return to haunt your kinsmen even longer than Obote did.
Behind your leadership was Acholi/ Northern Uganda’s ability to re-lead Uganda after the painful memories your past gov’ts left us.
You and Akena represent your generation and Northern Uganda in Uganda’s politics. You are lucky that you have both had chance to lead Uganda’s oldest parties. You had chance to delete that bad history from Ugandans minds left by your kinsmen regimes and rebuilt northerners confidence in Ugandans hearts.
And how have you represented your region and generation in leadership? With financial greed, selfishness, moral decay, dictatorship etc.
The two of you have sold out age old parties moreover to a government that for over 10years haunted your kins-men! You 2 are a shame to the great GIPIR or RABONG
You have today ashamed all northerners and awoken Ugandan’s memory of the Obote regime since you have proved yourself as bloody and violent as him
Munnange outside here every sane Ugandan is silently whispering, ‘are these people still dark hearted” to this level?
It’s unfortunate my president that you have irretrievably lost intellectual and moral trust among elites of this society. Am afraid all your TV articulations from now-on will be ignored and despised as coming from a hypocritical mind.
Mr president, this Mukono woman Nambooze has laid you bare and left you with no moral authority to just talk against m7 She has proved you are the same or worse because you combine him and Obote’s bad characters in you.
I get shivers whenever I attempt to add you to Museveni’s list of “Used and Dumped” jjukira, none has ever politically woken up after betraying people to please Museveni.
Trust is like virginity, one prick and its gone forever
Chairman being the big person you are now in NRM gov’t that gave you a pistol, gives you police at will etc, losing my trust may not be of value to you but remember M7 does all this because of DP he is using you to destroy not because of Mao the person.
Your Excellency, as I told you last time, you know I know your plan to reduce DP to ‘ekikongoliro’ level dump it to Mbidde to mop off then form the Nile Progressive Party [NPP] with politicians along the Nile I will not mention here. But I fear those people are reading this and may also be scared of dealing with you.
Bye for now
I’m home to Kyabazaala for a weekend with Mzee Kaweesa who is never drained of words of wisdom. He has just told me “All birds, Insects and animals you see know their homes”
