Nambooze to Mao: I can overthrow you
Speaking at her home in Mukono hours after the foiled meeting, Nambooze, also the Mukono municipality MP, said Mao had crossed the line when heconsorted with police to thwart a party meeting.
“Before Mao chases me out of DP, he will realize that I have all the capacity and means to expel him.
We have been accused of being plotters, that we intend to stand for his office in future; we are not denying that, it is not an offense that I want to be the party’s first woman president general,” Nambooze told a handful of people at her home in Mukono.
She said she is taking Mao and government to court for assaulting her in police detention.
She repeated her charge that Mao and his vice president Fred Mukasa Mbidde are working for President Museveni to undermine the opposition and DP.
Nambooze said the two officials will use any excuse to stop any activity that is aimed at reviving the party.
“DP is being run as an organ of the state where the decisions are reached after consulting the NRM government and executed by the police.
Mao has broken the age-long norm of DP when he attacked our core pillars as a party; the right to assemble, free speech and use of non-violent means to solve conflicts,” Nambooze said.
